Celie is a fourteen year old girl. She has always been a good girl. She's black and she's pretty fat. She always think that she's ugly and big. She has two children and the father of her children is Celie's own father. At last, she knows that he's really her stepdaddy. She married a man when she's near twenty. She doesn't love him. She acts subservient to him. She does everything he said. The man married her to take care of his children. She never speaks up for herself, and that's why I think that she's so weak. She falls in love after she et this woman Shug. Shug teacher her how to love. At this time, Celie begins to know how to love a person. She becomes stronger and stronger. She started to learn how to speak right and how to stand up for herself.

After Shug brings her to her old home, Celie learned how to make pants. She started a business by making pants for people. People begin to like her, and she always dresses so beautifully. When she went back to her husband's house, she and her husband become friends. She 's the main character in this novel because the novel is mainly about her life. I think I like her, buy I wouldn't want to be her. I think it will be really hard to live in that kind of environment at that time. She's been beat up by her father and her husband. It makes me felt that women had no rights at that time. However I would like to be her friend because I want to tell her that she could speaks up for herself and don't be afraid of things. I want to teacher how to be happy. And also, I think she's a really nice person. She never hurt anyone eventhough she got beat up and everything. I respect her for who she is and eveything she did for other people. I guess she is just a normal person like us.
